Analysis of the long-term variations of the spectrum of Eta Carinae

We present the first results of our study on the long-term variations of the spectrum of Eta Carinae. We compared spectra from the last 50 years and noticed that the intensity of some lines (e.g.: He I at 447.1 nm) is not the same at a fixed phase of the orbital motion from cycle to cycle, whereas the high-excitation line of [Ar III] at 713.5 nm do reach the same intensity at roughly the same orbital phase. We intend to make more studies on other high- and low-excitation lines in order to compare their behaviour with the historical light-curve.
