HD 108 and the Other Peculiar Of?p Stars: Still Puzzling Peter, Jean-Marie, and the Massive Star Community

My very first research project concerned HD108. This star had puzzled my advisor, Jean-Marie Vreux and his Boulder "mentor" Peter Conti, when they looked at it in the seventies and they were not the only two, since Nolan Walborn had announced his perplexity by inserting a questionmark in the spectral type... so HD108 never completely quit their minds. In recent years, much information was gained on this object and its fellow Of?p colleagues. A wealth of peculiar phenomena has now been revealed: varying line profiles, changing photometry, X-ray overluminosity, magnetic fields,... The most recent results will be presented, as well as perspectives.
