Jordan and Secret Trails

Sedona, November 6, 2004

Byron, Jeff, and Steele

When it gets cold and the trails get mushy in Flagstaff, it's only 30 miles to Sedona, where one finds perfect, 75-degree November days. One of the unwritten rules of Sedona mountain biking: there's a cactus on the outside of every curve in the trail. We spent about three hours wandering around the Secret Trails area in west Sedona on this day; I got this shot during an out and back spin up Teacup Trail.

Jordan Trail is great fun, an endless series of fast dips followed immediately by short, sharp grunts up. Steele dabbed out on the drop on his first roll through this dip, so he gave it a second try and cleared it.

Here I am on a short descent around a gully. As long as you don't turn right prematurely, this stretch is no problem.

Steele took this shot of me and Byron debating how to get the best runup to jump the sinkhole.

We took a break at the Seven Sacred Pools, where I got this shot of the pools with Coffee Pot Rock in the background.
