Current Research Projects

Most of my research projects involve observational astronomical interferometry, using the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI), Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), the GSU CHARA Array, the Palomar Testbed Interferometer (PTI), the Keck Interferometer, and the IR/Optical Telescope Array (IOTA).  Specific topics include:

• Basic parameters (radius, temperature, mass) of Main Sequence, Giant, and Supergiant Stars
• Stellar rotation, including direct measures of oblateness of rapidly rotating stars
• Carbon stars
• Young stellar objects
• Cataclysmic variables
• Mira variables
• Spectroscopic binaries
• Active galactic nuclei
• Narrow-angle astrometry (fields of <30 arcseconds, with ~100 microarcsecond measurement precision)
