For the foreseeable future the DCT will be scheduled classically, in half-night chunks. Nevertheless, we anticipate strong demand to comfortably accommodate synoptic or short programs. We are therefore strongly considering a "cooperative pool" model, based upon the popular Hectospec and Hectochelle observing modes at the MMT. In this model, observers could "opt in" to the pool, and share the observing responsibilities. Alternatively, an hour or so might be set aside each night, and the scheduled observer requested to do a set of LMI observations for other observers who will someday return the favor. The exact details will depend upon discussions with the Partners and Lowell science staff, but we believe flexible scheduling will provide a better scientific capability.
