Old Yeller: My little Hot Rod

Old Yeller is a 1977 VW van (obviously). It packs a 1972 Porsche 914 2.0 liter (a real one). There are about 75,00 miles on the rebuild and almost 200,000 clicks on the body. I bought it near my home in Flagstaff, AZ and drove it back to undergrad at Earlham College in Richmond, In. My brother Charlie and I drove it down to Florida the spring of '96 and I've taken Old Yeller on numerous trips around AZ. I've made a few adjustments including a retractable cord from the rear for those camp ground camping situations, a trailer hitch, a bike rack, a ladder for the roof rack, a 5 gallon gas can holder and numerous interior modifications. The list goes on.

I'll be adding more interesting pictures and facts about Old Yeller as time goes on.

This is a picture at White Water State Park about 20-30 miles south of Richmond, Indiana.
Brother Charles and I spent the night here next to a pasture full of noisy cows in Kentucky. The rancher woke us up at about 5:00am to tend to his herd. He wanted to get through the gate we were parked in front of however, noticed that we meant no harm and used another gate down the road a bit.
This is a picture of the inside of Old Yeller. You can't see much from this picture however, if you could you'd see some of the custom modifications I've made.
This is brother Charles cooking up some grub on our spring break tour. I can't remember the name of this park. You can see the latter I made that attaches to the roof rack that makes it a little easier to get to supplies on top.
Old Yeller in front of an old church near Zion National Park. This was in the little ghost town were Butch Casity and the Sundance Kid was filmed!
The Colorado/Arizona state line near four corners... the only place in the US where one might pee in four states at the same time... if one so desires... not that I've ever done that...
Shari took this picture when we went camping in the Prescott National Forest. Nice place to camp!
stay tuned for more pictures to come...
